Ribbons of ice and rock flowed from the near-tops of jagged peaks and the complex of mountains went on endlessly beyond. The newness of the scene meant scale was impossible to determine. Where the glaciers abruptly ended braided rivers reflecting golden sunlight flowed out of them chaotically, but, we assumed, unerringly in every direction.
